Dear Friends,
Increasing poverty, deprivation and conflict in the rural areas have resulted in perennial livelihood risks for rural women. Land issues, debt and bondage, war and fundamentalisms continue to push rural women toward migration. Could addressing these problems stem the tide of overseas slave labor? These are some of the issues that will be raised by over 1,500 voices at the March 6-8 Asian Rural Women's Conference in Chennai India. The Committee for Asian Women together with other civil society groups will be organizing simultaneous workshops on 6 March entitled "Labor and Trade". We'd like to invite you to participate or encourage those whom you know to be there, to join us. CAW brochure on the event is attached.
